ประเทศมาเลเซีย เป็นประเทศที่มีเขตเศรษฐกิจสำคัญ คือ เขตปลูกยางพาราและขุดแร่ดีบุก ด้านเกษตรกรรม มาเลเซียสามารถผลิตยางพาราที่สำคัญของโลก และข้าวเจ้า โดยปลูกมากบริเวณที่ราบลุ่มแม่น้ำทั้ง 2 ด้าน และมีการทำเหมืองแร่ที่สำคัญ ได้แก่ แร่ดีบุก ซึ่งส่งออกเป็นอันดับหนึ่งของโลก แร่เหล็ก น้ำมัน และแก๊สธรรมชาติ ด้านการทำป่าไม้ของมาเลเซียส่วนใหญ่ยังเป็นไม้เนื้อแข็ง จึงส่งไม้ออกเป็นอัยชนดับ 2 ของเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ รองจาก
