Abstract: |
The main objective of this study was to estimate the risk of catastrophic health expenditures, considering in terms of its prevalence and intensity. Additionally, the risk factors related to the human right to healthcare and personal health conditions were examined. The study used secondary data derived from the research program: Well-being of the Elderly in Thailand (HART--WAVE 2). The survey was conducted in 2017 by the National Institute of Development Administration. The studied sample composed of 1,613 elderly people aged 60 years and over.
The result indicated that the early-elder had higher estimated risk prevalence while the late-elder had higher intensity of risk of catastrophic health expenditures than the other age groups. Regarding risk factor analysis, it was found that only chronic diseases and self-assessment of both mental and physical health status, as measures of personal health conditions, were statistically significance at 0.01 , 0.05 , 0.01 level, respectively. |
