Abstract

In 1962, Professor Bunchana Atthakor and some other Thai delegates participated in an academic conference convened by the International Institute of Administrative Sciences (IIAS) in Vienna, Austria.After the IIAS conference, Professor Bunchana and the other Thai academics arrived at the view that it would be a good idea to establish an institute which provided training and education in the fields of development economics, statistics, and enterprises in Thailand. As a consequence, they submitted a proposal to the government.The government welcomed such proposal while considering the concept of founding a management institute, as suggested by Dr. Amnuay Weerawan. Before then, the renowned American statistician and economist,Dr. Stacy May, had presented a project to establish an advanced education institute in accordance with His Majesty the King’s notion.
