As television ownership expanded and became commonplace, advertising and movies concurrently rose in their influence upon society. As a result, three academic institutes consisting of: the National Institute of Development Administration; the Faculty of Commerce and Accounting, Thammasat University; and the Faculty of Decorative Arts, Silapakorn University collected all television commercials and selected the top ten outstanding each year to be generally admired in journal articles. Such activity was performed and improved over time until finally becoming the Top Advertising Contest(TAC) Awards in 1976. In 1981,TAC became the Top Advertising Contest of Thailand, or TACT Awards. This award was generally considered to be the major industry award and it continued for 29 years until ending in 2005.th
