In May 1992, more demonstrators gathered on Ratchadamnoen Avenue with the aim to expel the military dictators. The demonstrations became more and more violent, ending in dispersion during the night of May17.After that, wounded, arrested, and lost demonstrators were legion, causing total chaos to find persons missing during the bloody demonstration.To defuse the situation, the National Institute of Development Administration (NIDA), set up Chira Boonmak News Center as a major hub for seeking and finding missing persons. All NIDA personnel kindly volunteered for this mission throughout 24 hours.Even though the turmoil subsided, leaving the country in peace and Chira Boonmak News Center a legend, the Institute has been completely resolute in its social contributions and responsibility up until now. |
