Abstract
The purpose of this research was to develop and validate a relationship
between the causal factors affecting the healthy organization and performance of
employees in Thai hotels. This research employed a mixed method approaches. For
quantitative research, the sample consisted of 690 employees in the independent Thai
hotels. The area of research are 4 star hotels which are the members of Thai Hotels
Association (THA) in the Andaman Sea. The sampling techniques were randomly
selected by multi-stage random sampling. Causal modeling involved the use of
LISREL.
The results indicated that the relationships among factors affecting healthy organization, perceived organization support, organization culture, transformational leadership was consistent with the empirical data. (Chi-Square=120.74 df=101 Pvalue=0.088 GFI = 0.97 AGFI = 0.94 CFI = 1.00 NFI = 0.99 RMSEA=0.023 SRMR = 0.031) The variables in the proposed model accounted for 85 percent. The finding of this study could suggest Healthy Organization factors positively correlated with the organization culture and transformational leadership. This study also found that Healthy Organization has the largest influence on job performance, organization culture, and transformational leadership respectively. However, perceived organizational support was not found to have direct and indirect positive effect to healthy organization.
For qualitative method, this research interviewed with 10 executive managers or human resource managers. The finding reveled that organizational culture and role of transformational leadership have a significantly influence on healthy organization, which lead a higher employee performance. Thus, independent hotels pay a great attention to develop appropriate organizational culture among team. In addition, managers have to trust, respect and motivate their employees.
