Abstract: |
The purpose of this study is to investigate factors affecting the contaminated microplastics Information exposure and behavior of using plastic in daily life among people in the Bangkok Metropolitan Region, to search for the relationship between knowledge, belief and fear about microplastics contamination with exposure to information on microplastics contaminated and behavior of using plastic products in daily life and then to propose appropriate guidelines for preventive management on problems of microplastics contamination including the behavior of using plastic products in daily life that helps reduce problems of plastic waste. The 2 parts of the research methods: 1) Documentary research together with the interview guide to key informants, policy analysts, and practitioners 2) Survey research by the Google Form online questionnaire collecting data from people are living or working in Bangkok Metropolitan Region had known about microplastics. The sample size calculation using the formula of W.G. Cochran was carried out to obtain 678 samples then proportional and random quota sampling was deployed. Then process the data with SPSS t-Test/ One-way ANOVA/ Multiple Response/ Pearson's Correlation Coefficient and Multiple Linear Regression Analysis.
The results of the study showed that personal factors involving different gender and educational level had different information exposure to microplastics contamination statistically significantly at 0.05 level. Factors of belief, fear and attitude about microplastics contamination with information exposure microplastics contamination showed a high level of positive correlation. There was a low positive correlation between knowledge of microplastics and information exposure about microplastics contamination. The knowledge, belief and fear of microplastics contamination with information exposure on microplastics contaminated and the behavior of using plastic products in daily life were related by explaining the variation of the behavior of people in Bangkok Metropolitan Region at a low level of 27.3 percent, therefore propose guidelines for management to prevent and correct the problem of microplastics contamination. The S-O approach focus on the life cycle assessment of all plastic products that originate from microplastics. Assign workers clearly and appropriate budget allocation in order to avoid problems with the use of staff or the wrong type of budget that does not meet the purpose. This results in inefficient operations on related matters. The W-O approach focus on creating an understanding of the negative impacts of microplastics contamination to let people see the negative impact they can have from microplastics contamination on the environment and having a good quality of life based on good environmental quality including having the right to inspect the work at every step. The S-T approach focus on establishing an infrastructure system that supports plastic waste management to have an effective plastic waste management network and create discipline for people to follow the prescribed guidelines willingly and the W-T approach focus on creating awareness cooperation and ready to work for make all sectors aware of the problems of plastic pollution lead to a willingness to cooperate as well as being ready to continue working. However, all operations must be appropriate for the context of each area. As for the behavior of using plastic products in daily life, it was found that the sample group had average of the behaviors that reduce plastic waste by using cloth bags, backpacks, bags, or baskets in order to reduce the receipt of plastic bags as much as possible |
